An Inconvenient Truth (the film)

I finally have gotten to watch "An Inconvenient Truth" by Al Gore! I expected it to be a movie pertaining to global warming instead it was a documentary. The film was kind of boring & it dragged on, the book to me is more interesting and I have a better understanding of global warming because of the book. Al Gore just made the film drag & honestly I wanted to take a nap during the film. I didn't really learn anything new during the film because most of what he talked about I had already read. What I did like was seeing how scientist/reasearchers measure ice. It was so much better then seeing a picture of it. I also learned throught the film that the Artic ice cap is what keeps are atmosphere cool, which I really didn't know. I look forward to continuing to read the book and gaining a better understand of our atmosphere & global warming

What do you see as the most important issue facing our environment today and why?

Global warming has been an issue for several years, yet many have ignored it including myself. I never really understood what the big issue with global warming was until I read "An Inconvenient Truth" by Al Gore. The book gave me a better understanding of this problem and the affects it has on our atmosphere. It has also made me realize that if we don't stop the things we do to cause global warming our atmosphere is in danger.One of the biggest problems causing global warming is carbon dioxide (C02) that we humans create every time we burn oil, gas, & coal to heat our houses, apartments, and cars. Keep in mind these are things we do every day and may not even know that its causing lots of trouble for our atmosphere. Heating your house/apartment, or using your car releases c02 into the atmosphere which then causes our atmosphere to warm up and that creates severe problems. It's scary to think that the things we do on a daily basis maybe the cause of one of the biggest problems our earth faces.
The affects and signs of global warming are right in our faces many of us just dont see it or want to see it but the fact still remains that that it's there. Glaciers are melting away, hurricanes and tornadoes are getting bigger and stronger, summer arrives early and leaves late, winter arrives late and leaves early and it's said by many researchers that within the next half a century we may face a severe drinking water shortage and these are all serious problems.
Some peopel may not care but think about your children or your grand children who will all have to face what can be an even bigger problem by the time they are adults.
So what can we do to help our atmosphere? For starters we can can all start to recycle, consume less energy, electricity in our homes. Buy things that can be reused (reduce, reuse, recycle), instead of bagging your groceries in paper bags use a tote bag (supermarkets are now starting to sell those reusable totes for less then $2).
There are so many things that we can do to help out with this global warming issue and many of them are so simple. Let's start now helping our atmosphere before it's too late and we can't turn back!
